SmartFleetDX has installed and commissioned a Topcon mmGPS system on the Gomaco GT3600 Slipform Paver of Namur Asphalte.
A slipform paver is a machine used to lay concrete pavement. The machine operates on the principle of sliding formwork. The concrete mix is poured in front of the machine, after which, in a single operation, the plastic concrete mix is compacted and finished to the correct height and slope.
The Topcon mmGPS system is a proprietary machine control technology that combines GPS/GNSS for horizontal positioning with a rotating laser for millimeter-level vertical accuracy, creating a high-precision system for construction and paving.
This technology increases accuracy over standard GPS, eliminates the need for string lines or stakes, and allows multiple machines to operate from the same laser network.
